Aftersales Advisor, Magna Mazda Dorchester

Salary: Competitive salary based on experience

Driver Licence Required: Yes

If you enjoy dealing with people, take pride in doing a job properly and like having responsibility for your own customers, this could be a great opportunity to join an established and growing motor group.

This is a hands-on dealership role where you’ll be the main point of contact for customers bringing their vehicles in for servicing, maintenance and repairs. You’ll work closely with our technicians and workshop team to make sure everything runs smoothly, while keeping customers informed and looked after throughout the process.

We’re not looking for someone who simply wants to book cars in and hand out keys. We want someone who will build relationships with customers, take ownership of their experience and recognise opportunities to help them keep their vehicle safe, reliable and properly maintained.

About Us

Horizon Magna Motor Group is a well-established, privately owned motor retail business founded in Poole in 1971. Today, we represent Changan, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Nissan across 12 sites throughout Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset and Wiltshire. We’re continuing to grow, but we’ve retained the feel of a family-run business. Our dealerships are supported by an experienced wider group, while our individual teams remain friendly, approachable and close-knit.

The Role

As an Aftersales Advisor, you’ll look after customers from the moment they book their vehicle in through to collection.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Taking service and repair bookings by phone, online and in person
  • Welcoming customers and providing a professional, friendly service
  • Preparing job cards and accurately recording customer and vehicle information
  • Liaising with technicians and the workshop to keep work progressing smoothly
  • Keeping customers updated throughout the day
  • Explaining recommended additional work clearly and professionally
  • Discussing service, maintenance and aftersales products where appropriate
  • Preparing invoices and ensuring vehicles are ready for collection
  • Processing warranty and manufacturer paperwork accurately
  • Following up with customers and helping to build long-term relationships
  • Working as part of a small team to keep the department running efficiently

There is a commercial element to the role, and you will have the opportunity to earn uncapped personal commission alongside the departmental bonus.

However, this is fundamentally a customer-focused position. We want customers to feel that you are helping them, not simply trying to sell to them.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience within an automotive aftersales/service advisor role or similar automotive customer-facing role is highly desirable

More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:

  • Is confident and comfortable speaking to customers face-to-face and over the phone
  • Has excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Is organised and able to manage several jobs at once
  • Can remain calm and professional when things don't go to plan
  • Has good attention to detail and takes pride in getting things right
  • Understands the importance of keeping customers informed
  • Is commercially aware and comfortable identifying appropriate sales opportunities
  • Enjoys working as part of a small, supportive team
  • Is willing to get involved and help wherever needed

A full, valid driving licence is essential, as you will occasionally need to move customer vehicles around the site. You must be comfortable driving both manual and automatic vehicles.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Uncapped personal commission
  • Departmental bonus scheme
  • 30 days annual leave including bank holidays
  • Manufacturer training and ongoing career development
  • Company pension scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme (BEN)
  • Staff discounts on servicing, repairs and vehicle purchases
  • Supportive team culture within a growing and ambitious motor group

Working Hours

Monday - Friday 08:00 - 18:00 with an hours unpaid break

Saturday mornings 08:30 - 12:30 on a rotational basis.

Why join us

This is a good opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a smaller dealership team where your contribution is noticed.

You'll have the support of a well-established motor group behind you, but you'll also have the opportunity to build strong relationships with your own customers and colleagues and play an important part in the success of the aftersales department.

If you're an experienced Aftersales or Service Advisor looking for a fresh challenge – or you're already working in the motor trade and feel you're ready for your next step – we'd love to hear from you.
